"Right to Conscience" extends far beyond abortion. It gives any Wal-Mart pharmacist the right not to fill a birth control prescription you need so that you can maintain your hormonal levels, let alone avoid getting pregnant. It gives any homophobic Target cashier the right to refuse to ring up your HIV medications because s/he thinks HIV is god's punishment for being gay. Even a medical doctor could refuse you treatment for lung cancer because you used to smoke a pack a day and s/he feels you deserve your fate.

Anyone who is remotely involved in the healthcare process -- from the surgeon to the OBGYN assistant to the pharmacist to the bagboy at the store -- will be allowed to NOT DO HIS/HER JOB because they are morally opposed to the COMPLETELY LEGAL procedure and/or medication you might require, not just to avoid having a baby, but to simply live a healthy and happy life, as is your basic right as an American citizen. And it relieves them of any responsibility to report their moral opposition when they apply for the job. The regulations are broad, unspecific, and sweeping; what likely was conceived as a last-minute last laugh in lieu of overturning Roe v. Wade has turned out to be a dangerous scourge upon our collective rights. It's a vicious swipe at not only women, but anyone out there who requires healthcare as prescribed at any given time. It's a condemnation of a president's constituents, those who didn't vote for him and those who did. Disgusting, foul, and utterly UNCONSCIONABLE.

The Obama administration has already claimed they are looking into ways to reverse this as quickly as possible, but it won't be easy.

After staying up late (again) to watch the replay of another convention speech (again) I was woken today by a phone call and took a look at the news. I'm now researching this Sarah Palin woman, who seems to support drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve, is pro-life as hell, pro-NRA, and has banned gay marriage in her state and passed legislation to deny benefits to partners of gay state employees, even though Wikipedia reminds us "she has stated that she has gay friends." As Jerell from Project Runway would say, she's got two years in office and one stank policy. Don't trust the bitch.

ANTM is awesome this cycle. I totally called the walking forehead getting kicked off first, but I had no idea she was going to volunteer to leave because she has a distaste for fashion! Way to leave that part out when all those other girls left behind were bawling. Paulina Porizkova totally wants to beat out Janice Dickinson as bitchiest judge ever. And Miss J has all of their names on her jacket and rips them off in disgust when they get eliminated! Plus, bonus exploitation of female genital mutilation (going from calling it a "special" ritual in one breath to the most horrible thing a woman can ever experience in the next and mentioning it every five minutes)! And a kickoff photoshoot where they dress up like homeless people while posing with a group of FORMER HOMELESS PEOPLE. Eating garbage and begging for change = so glamorous! Right now I am watching a video of New Young Pony Club covering "Pump Up the Jam" by Technotronic. My childhood is coming back to haunt me with extra spandex and glitter.

How is it that they keep banging out these Saw sequels so quickly? I feel like I spend half of every year seeing commercials for the next movie, then the other half seeing commercials for the DVD of the movie, then there's another movie.
